On November 30th- December 1st our Trend Director Melissa Moylan attended the 9thedition of Denim by P.V. There was a selection of 81 international premium denim exhibitors (up 15.7% over December 2010) that
showed off collections, innovations and special events in front of a flow of visitors all looking
forward to exploring the future of denim for spring-summer 2013.
Over the two days, a total of 2,552 buyers, designers and the denim community key players
coursed through the aisles at the Halle Freyssinet, giving the show a 22% jump in visitors
over the December 2010 session. A full 73% came from abroad, attesting to the show’s
leadership in the global market.
These mini replicas of the Levi’s vintage collection are based on what sales men in the 30′s and 40′s would travel with. Because sales men were unable to travel with the whole collection instead they would bring mini versions along with them to show buyers!!
Thanks to our friends at Trendland and Michael for making us aware of Jeffrey W ang and the Taiwanese Collective BlanQ’s new project entitled ‘Persona’ recycles Levi’s into wearable sculptures. For this collaboration with Levi’s and the Taiwanese Fubon Art Foundation, Jeffrey created these sculptures using only safety pins.
